A Message from Larry Simmons, CFM-Larry

Our New President!

I hope everyone had a joyous holiday. We want to thank the membership for their support and encouragement for the coming year.

Under Geoff and the executive board's leadership, the chapter has put into place a strong strategic plan ensuring the chapter a virtual future for its members and the facility management profession.

With an uncertain business environment before us, the 2009 year holds challenges, but with more challenges come opportunities. I am sure that many members are asked to examine their facility areas and look for ways to help the organization's bottom line and I am sure this challenging assignment is not really foreign to many facility managers. Three Days At World Workplace 2008

By Geoff Allen, CFM LEED AP

Wednesday: AM - Dallas convention center, we register, mingle, and greet first timers from everywhere! They wear yellow ribbons, you pick them out right away, if you see one alone it's customary to greet them.  Lots of "where you from? Are you an FM", etc. See the gang from Nigeria again, always smiling, some in dashikis.

Why Do We Illuminate The Unoccupied Darkness?

by David Dunn, CFM

 orlando

Do you turn off the light when you are not using it? Or, do you just leave it on?

I live in Rockledge and work in Orlando and as I traverse the fifty-two miles to work in the wee hours of the morning, arriving at my office around 6:00 AM, I see an unbelievable number of closed businesses unoccupied and illuminated! Read on...
